Frequently Asked Questions

Is the procedure different with Fuse than colonoscopies I've had before?
No. As with the standard technique, Fuse colonoscopy involves inserting a flexible tube into the lower gastrointestinal tract. The difference is in the fuller range of vision the gastroenterologist has.

Does the procedure cost more than standard colonoscopy?
No. Fuse colonoscopy is covered by your insurance in the same way as standard colonoscopy.

Does Medicare cover the Fuse colonoscopy procedure?
Medicare covers this test once every 24 months if you are at high risk for colorectal cancer. If you are not at high risk for colorectal cancer, Medicare covers this test once every 120 months, or 48 months after a previous flexible sigmoidoscopy procedure.
